GE Foundation's GE STAR Awards provide recognition and financial support to children of GE employees and retirees around the world for their outstanding achievements.

Recipients receive a one-time award in one of two categories to be put towards first year higher education expenses.

The first category is for those attending a three year University course, the second is for those attending a two year vocational course. Winners also select a teacher from their current secondary school to recognise and to guide the use of an award to the school.

Recipients are chosen through a competitive application and selection process based on their academic achievements, extracurricular activities, community service, personal experiences and goals as described in a written statement.
