Access to quality healthcare for all people is a challenge that spans the globe. GE seeks to make a positive contribution to the healthcare landscape both commercially and philanthropically. We do this through healthymagination, the GE Healthcare business, and GE Foundation's capacity-building initiatives in communities around the world.

We are also committed to creating a culture of health in our own company. Did you know that over 2 million deaths per year worldwide are related to work place injuries or illness? Moreover, 17 million people each year die from cardiovascular disease. GE is addressing these unhealthy trends with the HealthAhead site health certification programme. To qualify, sites must meet targets for key health metrics such as good nutrition, prevention & screening, health related absence and physical activity.

In the UK, the GE Foundation is supporting Build My Future, a new education, health and wellbeing programme for 13/14 year olds. GE developed Build My Future in response to critical issues facing young people in Britain today. A quarter of 11-14s in the UK have a low estimation of their wellbeing. Teenagers are increasingly anxious about their future, and too many suffer from poor self-esteem. These factors along with declining social mobility are recognised causes of poor achievement. This programme, using business volunteers, aims to imbue teenagers with greater self-belief and help them determine their own success and happiness. Learn more
